The Sonoma Diet: Promoting a Lifestyle

June 22nd, 2008 by cerielangeli

By Kim Black The Sonoma Diet is a weight loss plan that promotes the healthy and flavorful eating style of the Mediterranean and Sonoma Valley. Flavorful foods are an important part of the plan and they help you stick to the plan, loose weight and choose a healthier new lifestyle. The core of the Sonoma Diet is the power foods which are incorporated into many meals and recipes in the book. They are almonds, bell peppers, blueberries, broccoli, grapes, olive oil, spinach, strawberries, tomatoes and whole grains. They are all not only delicious but are in the right portions, essential to good health and weight loss. Whole grains and breads are allowed on the diet from day one. But some foods with saturated fat, added sugar and refined white flour are not allowed on the program. Connie Guttersen, PhD, RD, is the author of The Sonoma Diet: Trimmer Waist, Better Health in Just 10 Days! Guttersen offers a creative approach to encourage people to change their eating behaviors. Her emphasis is food enjoyment, portion control, food label reading and eliminating trans-fats. She identifies the diet as neither low- fat nor low- carbohydrate. She indicates it has the right balance of nutrients to ensure health, weight loss and satisfaction. The Sonoma Diet has three waves to Weight loss. Wave 1 is a 10-day period in which dieters can eat certain vegetables, lean meats, seafood, limited dairy, some grains, thee daily servings of olive or canola oil, a small amount of nuts, black coffee, tea, and an unlimited amount of herbs and spices. This wave is the most extreme and its purpose is to wean the body from sugar. This wave will produce rapid weight loss depending on the person and the amount of weight they need to loose. Wave 2 allows the same foods as Wave 1, but adds more fruits, more vegetables, fat-free yogurt, some sugar free sweets, some dark chocolate, honey and some wine. In this wave weight loss is more gradual and approximately -1.5 pounds a week. Dieters stay in this wave until they reach their target weight. The final stage-wave 3- promotes the same principles of healthy eating as the prior waves but recommends increasing servings of fruits and vegetables and indulging in occasional treats. It also recommends more experimentation with different foods and different ways of enjoying meals. Copyright Diet-Newsroom.com, All Rights Reserved. All Natural Weight Loss Plan

June 19th, 2008 by cerielangeli

By Alberta McKain All natural weight loss plan should be as it follows: firstly you have to make sure you are getting enough vitamins and minerals in your diet from nutrient-dense foods like fruits, vegetables, lean meats, oily fish, oats, beans, nuts and seeds, and avoid wasting your daily calorie allowance on “empty-calorie-foods” which contain calories but no nutrition, like regular sodas, alcohol, sweets and candy. When you follow an all natural weight loss plan for health and weight loss, you should eat a rainbow of fruits and vegetables every day! Eat at least 5 servings, preferably up to 9 or 12 servings, of fruits and vegetables each day. Fresh fruits and vegetables are all natural and loaded with enzymes, vitamins, minerals, and important phytonutrients such as carotenoids and bioflavonoids that protect us from cancer, heart disease, and most other chronic degenerative illnesses.Fruits and vegetables also provide us with fiber and they are great for health and weight loss. The natural weight loss plan must be sustained by a regular physical activity which is naturally very healthy. The physical activity not only burns calories, it also helps to speed up metabolic rate, which means we burn calories faster even when we stop exercising. (An hour of exercise keeps our metabolic rate elevated for 12-16 hours.) It also maintains strong bones, and protects us against a wide range of conditions, such as: cardiovascular disease, stroke, hypertension, some cancers, insulin resistance and diabetes, to name but a few. It also triggers the release of the so-called “happiness chemicals”, called endorphins, which improve our mood. Finally, regular workouts help to actually reduce our appetite. Bottom line: keeping fit is a very effective way to maintain a healthy weight. The best weight control si the all natural weight loss plan and the strategy here means doing two things: (1) you need to change your daily routine and eat only natural and healthy food for weight loss and optimum health. (2) you need to have a regular physical activity and exercise that helps you speed-up metabolism and become more healthy. Alberta McKain is nutritionist woman who used to be fat. After testing tens of so-called “wonder diets” she decided to create a WeightLoss Programs Review Website, containing a top of the 3 best programs with a brief description about their features and benefits. Creation Science - What is It?

June 7th, 2008 by cerielangeli

By Cecil Cloud What is creationism? Creationism comes in several forms. There is Young Earth Creationism, which argues that the Earth, and everything on it (including man) was literally created 6,000 10,000 years ago (depending on which Young Earth Creationist you ask). There is also Old Earth Creationism, which conforms to mainstream Geology in that the Earth is billions of years old. Progressive Creationism asserts that God created life on Earth, in a timeline and sequence compatible with that of evolutionary Biology. Progressive Creationism falls under the umbrella of Old Earth Creationism and shares many parallels with Theistic Evolution, which holds evolution to be true, with a certain degree of guidance from God. Some creationists generally regard Creationism as science, and honestly believe that the events in the Book of Genesis can be scientifically argued. Others, will openly state that their beliefs are not scientific, but with the added assertion that Evolution is also unscientific. Many if not all Creationists regard Evolution as a religion, and argue that it should not be taught in schools. Because Evolution is also supported through other fields of science, including Geology, Paleontology, Anthropology, and Cosmology Young Earth Creationist arguments tend to delve into these areas as well. The result is a myriad of arguments aimed to refute the Geologic timescale (also referred to the Geologic Column), fossil findings and the existence of transitional fossils, the validity of the hominids (ie. Homo Erectus, Australopithecus Afarensis, Boisei, Neanderthal, etc), and of course, the Big Bang. Such ant-evolution arguments are often accompanied by other pro-creation arguments, such as “where do morals come from” or “how can complex systems like the eye arise by chance?” The latter questions also ties into Intelligent Design, which is seen as sort of a ‘cousin’ to Creationism. While the vast majority of these Creationist arguments are grounded in the United States, it does exist, to an extent, in other Western Countries and an Islamic counterpart now exists in Turkey. Contrary to what many believe, Creationism is hardly g new. While the term may have a more ‘recent’ introduction, many of these arguments were being made the moment Darwin unveiled his “Origin of Species.” In fact, the ‘design’ argument can be seen in scripture. Cecil Cloud has studied the Evolution vs Creation debate for many years and now and continues to study the ongoing debate. He lives in Southern California and enjoys science, reading, history, computers, and writing. Among the various components of the Creation vs Evolution controversy, he enjoys reading about the geologic column, carbon dating, radiometric dating, and the life of Darwin. Instant Car Loans - Using Credit Score to Get a Lower Rate

June 1st, 2008 by cerielangeli

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Carrie_Reeder]Carrie Reeder Smart car buyers know the advantages of getting pre-approved for a car loan before entering a dealership. Because dealerships have shady practices that involve charging higher interest rates and fees, many people choose to secure private financing and compare various auto loan offers. One way to get a low rate on an instant car loan is to have good credit. Here are three tips on improving credit before applying for a car loan. Auto Loan for People with Good Credit Regardless of credit rating, almost everyone can get approved for a car loan. Auto loans are secured, thus lenders have easy lending requirements. In their mind, it’s a win-win situation. If a person with bad credit defaults on the loan, the lender simply repossess the vehicle and re-sells it. However, because individuals with bad credit are charged higher fees, lenders are able to recoup some of their loss. Unfortunately, many auto finance companies also charge good credit borrowers higher rates and fees. Because the majority of car buyers are unfamiliar with the auto buying process, they fail to take the necessary steps to ensure a low rate. Know Your Personal Credit Score Many people do not know their credit score. They likely know their credit category: good, fair, bad, etc. When determining an interest rate on auto loans, lenders review credit scores. If your score is above 680, you are a prime borrower and entitled to a low rate. However, deceitful lenders do not inform borrowers of the prime credit rating, and charge more interest. To avoid this scam, car buyers should obtain a copy of their credit report and score before applying for a loan. This way, you have an idea of the rates you may qualify for. Boost Credit Rating Try using one of ABC Loan Guide’s [http://www.abcloanguide.com/autoloans.shtml]Recommended Instant Approval Car Loan Companies. Because instant car loan approvals are usually based on credit scores, maintaining a high or good credit rating is essential. Credit reports can be ordered and viewed online. If your score needs improvement, attempt to boost score by a few points before applying for a loan. This may entail paying bills on time, limiting number of credit inquiries, reducing debts, or settling past due accounts. Depression Is No Match for Herbal Treatments

May 29th, 2008 by cerielangeli

By James Penn More and more consumers are approaching their doctors about getting natural herbal advice for their depression rather than being placed on synthetic anti depressants. Perhaps the most common natural herbal remedy is St. Johns Wort. The best thing about using an herb in place of a prescribed anti depressant is perhaps that the side effects are fewer in number and definitely in severity. You cant take St. Johns Wort in conjunction with another anti depressant or with certain other medications, so make sure you consult your doctor if youre taking anything else before you add St. Johns Wort to the mix. The NCCAM (National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine) is helping consumers get educated about the use of St. Johns Wort to treat depression. They believe it is best used to treat mild to moderate (but not severe) forms of depression. What is not yet known is exactly how St. Johns Wort works in order to treat depression. Its believed that it may possibly prevent nerve cells from reabsorbing serotonin, which is the chemical messenger in the body. Its been used and studied by scientists in treating mental disorders for many centuries, but it still remains somewhat of a mystery, even though its effectiveness in treating symptoms of depression such as mood swings is unprecedented, loss of appetite and often a loss of energy, and sadness has been largely documented. The reason consumers are turning to herbal remedies such as St. Johns Wort is because synthetic drugs have a high incidence of side effects, such as dry mouth, headaches, sexual dysfunction and insomnia. Its also a less costly treatment than high-priced prescription medications. You can buy St. Johns Wort in capsule form, as a tea, or as an extract. You have to be careful about the quantities you use when taking St. Johns Wort, because high level doses can potentially impede the treatment process by causing dizziness, upset stomach, and a sensitivity to sunlight. St. Johns Wort is not the only herb being used to treat depression however. Damiana, Ginseng, and Valerian root are also used to improve depression symptoms such as insomnia and stress. Regardless of which herbal remedy you wish to try in treatment for your depression symptoms, it is important to get the guidance of a doctor skilled in herbal remedies to ensure you are ingesting the correct amount and type of herb for your personal needs. Embroidery Sewing Quality of Machine Embroidery Designs

May 26th, 2008 by cerielangeli

By Terry Carter Many new to embroidery have experienced numerous problems because of the inferior quality of free embroidery design files that they downloaded over the internet. One of the biggest mistakes that many new sewists make is using free designs patterns that have problems built in. Even if you are lucky enough to do everything else right and use inferior designs, results will probably not be good. Many of the free embroidery designs files that one can download are the first efforts of someone that has just begun to digitize and thus are not very well made. Many new to this great hobby use these because they are free and easy to download without using a credit card, but this is where the trouble begins. Then when outlines are off or there are gaps in the sewing and poor results are evident, how does one know where the problem lies? Is it the designs or the stabilizers or even worst - Can it be the new embroidery machine? We have a test so one can determine if the design is at fault or if the stabilizer is the problem. We make available free designs, free sewing lessons, free thread color charts and info that you may need to learn so you can get great results with your embroidery designs projects. There is a big difference in the way embroidery designs patterns sew out because of how the designs files were digitized. All designs should have a foundation, underlayment stitches that sews before the design itself, to help stabilize the fabric. These underlayment stitches are put in so that the stitches on top have a minimum stretching effect on the fabric, so stabilizing will be easier. - this takes careful planning as one needs to know what top stitches are needed to make the design and what stretching effect this will have on the finished design pattern and fabric. The goal is to put the underlayment in so that the thread art designs on top will have no or very little effect on the fabric. (no puckering, no cupping or off outlines or miss-aligned parts) Without proper underlayment, it is almost impossible for a design to sew out well, even with the best of stabilizing. Another important consideration for sewing ease is thread changes and jump stitches. Skill and careful planning is necessary to eliminate all unnecessary jump stitches and thread changes. So choose your embroidery designs well and avoid the disappointment and frustrations of trying to use poor designs. Even free designs can cost a lot more in time, garments, frustrations and disappointment that a purchased quality one - there really is no comparison in the pleasure you will have while sewing quality embroidery designs patterns. Tips For Planting Azaleas Perfectly

May 17th, 2008 by cerielangeli

By Lee Dobbins Azaleas are a flowering plant with a lot of panache. They put off an impressive show, and if done right, will continue to do so for years to come. Following is a guide to ensuring the success of this beautiful flowering shrub. Most azaleas are store bought. When choosing the azalea in the store, be sure to choose a plant that has green leaves and lots of flower buds. If the plant is at all weepy or the leaves are limp, this plant will probably not do well and may be diseased. A good choice will produce a rewarding plant. When you are ready to plant your azalea, you must first prepare the soil. Azaleas prefer an acidic soil and need to have good drainage. Therefore you must loosen the soil that it will be planted in about six to eight inches down. Also, be sure to test the acidity of the soil and adjust it accordingly. When creating the hole that it will be planted in, be sure to give it just enough room so that the root ball will be even or just above the earth. If planting more than one bush, be sure to space them with a few feet between to give the roots ample room to spread. Azaleas prefer to be fertilized after theyve had a chance to establish their roots. When the plant has successfully been put in the ground, water it thoroughly; about five to ten minutes with a garden hose, but do not fertilize. When its been in the ground for a week or two and its obvious that its taking root and flourishing well, then fertilize and water regularly. When theres very little precipitation outside, water with a garden hose daily for five to ten minutes. In the fall, prune the bush back to promote new and full growth for the following spring. Be sure to allow for fresh spring growth when pruning. The second growing season tends to have small amounts of growth, but in the third and thereafter the plant will really take off. Keep that in mind when pruning. Be sure theres enough room for growth above the ground as well as below. Lee Dobbins writes for Backyard Garden and Patio where you can learn more about gardening and get tips on flower planting. The Evolution of Online Dating

May 14th, 2008 by cerielangeli

By Charles Whyte The internet has finally done it. Never again will a nervous man be forced to leave his comfort zone and embarrassingly ask for a womans number. The feeling of rejection will no longer linger relentlessly over the infernal beating of the stupidity drum while the rejected ask themselves: why did I even try?. What am I talking about? Isnt it obvious? Im talking about online dating and the amazing success it has had with the web community especially in the past few years. As a multi billion dollar industry, global dating sites such as eHarmony, Date.com, Match.com, PerfectMatch, and AdultFriendFinder are far from going out of style, but are they really ready for the next stage in online dating? What is this next stage you are talking about? Well, let me put it this way, using the alexa traffic toolbar I can see that eHarmony has a traffic ranking of 921, but when I check out MySpace, they are 6 (for the record, I do not trust anything alexa says, but for this example it really shows my point). What is my point? My point is that the success of social networks has gravely surpassed online dating! Social networks such as MySpace, Friendster, YouTube and Facebook all target a younger demographic (primarily 18-24 year olds), but simply have the traffic and the ability to utilize it (hence Myspace surpassing MSN who would have ever guessed it). But wait a minute, what do social networks have to do with the evolution of online dating websites? Let me explain. You see, because dating websites cannot compete with these social networks, they are forced to evolve into them. The latest trend is to combine the desired social network aspects with the functionality of a dating website and creating a pseudo-hybrid of both. The two fit together so well, integration is a piece of cake and the end result is a match made in heaven. For example, social networks catch members attentions with personal blogs, comments, picture uploads, video uploads, forums, internal emailing, games, chats, and other dynamic tools, and dating sites have functionality that matches two profiles together, so what is to stop the two from working to make matches from what the social networks find? Perhaps having the matches be made from physical uploaded picture attributes instead of a written profile, or having common blogs match up with each other? The possibilities are endless and are what new dating sites are looking into. The basic idea is simple, but achieving an actual result is going to be the next waive of popular sites. The ideas that I have shared here are without a doubt what will happen to dating sites in the next few years, and more often will you see sites lean to this direction. Its as simple as the old saying: if you cant beat them, join them. Only this time, the joining is not to just one side, but rather they will be collectively creating an empire that no other type of site can touch. Charles Whyte is the webmaster and creator of the popular dating website CruzDate (http://www.cruzdate.com). Dealing With “How Would You…?” Questions

May 9th, 2008 by cerielangeli

By Bonnie Lowe I’m always preaching about proper preparation prior to interviews. If you research the position and company carefully, you can anticipate likely questions and prepare excellent answers. But something I also tell job seekers is that you can never anticipate every single question. I once had to respond to a “How would you…?” question about exhuming a dead duck. I am not making this up. The position involved community affairs work for a sewer treatment plant. How could I have anticipated such a strange question? It took me totally by surprise. But I got the job. Often with problem-solving questions, the interviewer isn’t looking for a “right” or “wrong” answer. He or she is more interested in the thought processes you demonstrate to come up with your answer. The dead-duck question was based on an actual incident, and the person who asked it is the person who had to deal with it. My response showed that I would have handled the situation differently than she had, but it also showed that I knew about problem solving. I didn’t panic at the unexpected question; I didn’t answer before thinking about it for a few seconds; and I didn’t blow it by giving a lame response like, “Gosh, that’s a really tough question! I honestly don’t know what I would do in that situation.” Here are a few tips to help you deal with “How would you…?” problem-solving questions: 1. Ask questions to determine exactly what the interviewer is looking for. (This will also give you a bit more time to think.) 2. Explain how you would gather the information and data necessary to develop a solution to the problem. 3. Tell how youd use the information you gathered to develop and analyze alternative courses of action. 4. And finally, tell them your solution or recommendation, explaining how you feel it’s the best option based on the info you were given. The “How would you…?” type of problem-solving questions are popular in interviews these days. You must not let them scare you. Don’t rush your response and don’t stress yourself out wondering what answer they’re looking for. Remember, the answer itself isn’t as important as showing your ability to think logically and demonstrate problem-solving capabilities.
