A Look At Some Of The Best Classic Toys

Saturday, September 29th, 2007

By Gregg Hall As time goes on, people’s definitions of things that are “old-school” or “classic” become different. Whether talking to an elderly person about blocks, or a younger person about gigapets, some toys will always feel classic. Others, on the other hand, will surely always be considered classic. A few toys that are inherently classics are puzzles, barbies, yo-yos, and balls & bats. Blocks used to be generic in design. You’d find them in one basic size and one basic shape. Today, however, you can find a large selection of a variety of blocks. Having a variety gives you options to expand your mind, however, even with the traditional square wooden blocks (which you can still find today), you can make many different things. The best thing about blocks? They are very durable. Similar to blocks, they too, were once generic. Basic size for basic designs. Now however, there is a large selection of Lego’s as well. Puzzles are a safe-bet gift. They are helpful learning tools and stimulating to the mind. The best thing about puzzles is that there are so many different types of puzzles, which could satisfy almost anyone. There are large wooden pieces with pegs for children, simplistic 100 piece puzzles, hard 1,000 piece puzzles,3D puzzles. From Disney characters, to animals, to scenery, puzzles offer a plethora of themes. With all the different themes and difficulty levels, you can find a puzzle for about anyone. Barbie dolls were desired from day one. The well-marketed product planted its heart into almost every girl’s heart. This, of course, gained Barbie many friends and accessories. That combined with the fact that they’re easy to transport and fairly inexpensive makes them timeless. Yo-yos are one of the most simple toys, yet one of the best loved. Easy to afford, and challenging, yo-yos were an instant classic. You first learn to use it in a basic manner, but once you do that, you can learn to do tricks with it as well. This inexpensive toy becomes far more advanced than simply up and down. People spend hours trying to perfect yo-yo tricks. Children and adults alike love throwing balls around, basketball, soccer, football. Many little league teams form in childhood, where children learn teamwork and participating in sports. The baseball and bat will probably remain on the “classics list” for quite some time, as they are fun, social, and easy to enjoy. Regardless of how long a toy has been around, it is unlikely the classics will die out. If anything, they will simply advance to keep with the time, but you can never go wrong with blocks, puzzles, Barbie, yo-yos, and balls, as they will probably continue to remain classics. Diagnosis Incurable

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Ed_Howes] Ed Howes The first thing you do is get a second opinion. Since you just paid good money for an entirely pessimistic diagnosis, the second one should be free. The second one should be much more upbeat. The second one should be your own. If there is such a thing as a mind - body connection someone just gave your mind a very bad idea. Just because it came from some professional does not demand you accept it. If you do not have your affairs in order do so. This event could have been a car crash with you dead and a diagnosis irrelevant. So take this negative diagnosis as a warning to be prepared. There is no such thing as incurable. What there is, is little known cures. If it is little known that means: 1. Somebody knows about it. 2. If someone knows about it, it can be known. 3. If it can be known, it can be known by you. People of faith will assure you that death itself is curable. If they are correct how can anything short of death be incurable? Now you might say, I dont know anything about any of this. I dont know what to do. And I say what you didnt know probably contributed to your less than optimum health. That is you are very likely a victim of ignorance as most of us are, most of the time. But the cure for ignorance is as plain as the nose on your face. First, the odds that more than one cure has been published somewhere. You can read about them and decide if one. appeals to you or makes you nervous. If you make a choice here you can begin treatment immediately. If you dont like the sound of either keep looking. If you dont find something right away, begin with prayer, meditation, visualization and affirmation. If these things do not cure, they will buy time. Do not panic. Do not be afraid. Both will accelerate degeneration. Its time now to get familiar with your affliction. You can read the medical journals if you want. They will try to confirm the negative diagnoses. If you know that going in you will be less depressed by what you read. But the smart thing to do is go to alternative healers and literature. It will seldom be as pessimistic as medical journals. Alternative sources may not expose a cure offhand but your reading itself will suggest further reading. If you learn either the cause of your affliction or the mechanism that makes it incurable by modern medicine, you are half way home to discovering a cure for yourself you could publish to help others. Helping others is that much more reason for you to succeed. Can you see how much you have already done to shift the odds in your favor? Most people have no idea how powerful personal expectation really is. It programs the subconscious to produce the expected result. Once you truly know this, you are smarter than most M.D.s.. Since you are now smarter than they are you have every right to expect better than they expect. Certainly you do not expect them to care more about you than you? That would be the definition of an unrealistic expectation. The medical establishment has no use for unscientific data, so if your aunt Agnes cured the same affliction by eating raw egg yolks for two months, are you just going to blow it off? How much do eggs cost? On the internet there are alternative healing databases that gather testimonial evidence and publish it. No matter how improbable a thing might seem, if nothing else is working and you are dying, it could be time to grasp at a straw or two. One could save your life. So there you have it. Your affliction is ignorance and the cure is education. It cant get any simpler than that. (PUBLISHERS! Free Promotion Here - Now! Finding a Nebraska Child Support Lawyer

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

By Jean Mahserjian Finding a Nebraska child support lawyer can be a serious decision. The person who you employ will be in charge of obtaining or preserving your rights to your children, your property, and your earnings. Actually, choosing a Nebraska child support lawyer may be a stressful experience. Do it correctly and you can breath easy. Do it wrong and you may have to spend a lot of time dealing with losses that might have been prevented. There are some time-tested strategies that you may want to apply when you locate a Nebraska child support lawyer. Prior to beginning, you had better consider the sort of case that you might need counsel for. Is it possible that you will be mediating your child support lawsuit? Is it possible that you will be negotiating? Or, is it possible that your lawsuit would a suit that goes to family court and turns into a venomous child support litigation? It is possible to locate a Nebraska child support lawyer who concentrates on these different procedures for resolving lawsuits and you had better engage the kind of Nebraska child support lawyer who is best suited to the sort of lawsuit that you will be dealing with. If you must confront a caustic litigation, you should not hire a mediation lawyer to enforce your rights. And, if you are working with mediation, it would be unfortunate if you retained a Nebraska child support lawyer who will seek to stir things up and move you into litigation. And so, the first step in the procedure of engaging a Nebraska child support lawyer is to ascertain the type of case that you have. When that is done, start asking people for help. Because the divorce rate in the US remains at around 50%, it is likely that you know several people who have had experience with a child support matter. Inquire into their litigation, how they retained a Nebraska child support lawyer, and how their lawyer worked on their behalf. After you have gotten information about several Nebraska child support lawyers that you found from checking with other individuals, go online and study every lawyer and any other names that you discover on the net. If a Nebraska child support lawyer has a web site, you can study it and look to see if there are any articles on their site that they wrote on child support law. You could also check to see if they have advertised their law office on the web on the issue of child support law. You should be able to find a substantial amount of information to realize how individual lawyers manages legal actions and deal with their clients by looking at their website. Subsequent to your viewing the Nebraska child support lawyer websites, compile a names of two to five Nebraska child support lawyers who you imagine you might be at ease meeting with. Telephone their office and set up an interview. A number of those lawyers may require payment for an initial meeting; the more experience the lawyer has, the more likely that you will be billed for time with that lawyer. At the time that you attend an initial meeting with a Nebraska child support lawyer, be organized. Prepare a written history of your marriage and the problems confronting you now. If you or your partner has filed any petitions in court, be sure that you remember to bring them along. Bring recent income tax returns or a current financial statement so that the child support lawyer can examine your economic history before being asked questions about “resolutions” to your situation. Be sure to ask each Nebraska child support lawyer questions about how that person’s law office responds to client telephone calls, electronic mail or additional questions. If you will be hiring a child support lawyer who has no other lawyer in their law office, be ready to wait in line if you have a need for a reply. That attorney may have other clients who have needs just as important as yours, and a lawyer can help out only one client at a time. In spite of that problem, there can be a Nebraska child support lawyer who you find is appropriate for your case who is also a solo practitioner. That is a trade off that you should adjust to. When you have completed each initial conference and considered the responses to all of your questions, determine which Nebraska child support lawyer you could be most comfortable with and which one you think will work for you to get the type of final result that you have a need for. 5 Tips for Getting the Most out of Exhibiting at Trade Shows

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

By Michael Losier Exhibiting at trade shows can be a cost-effective way to generate business, whether you are a new entrepreneur or have been in business for years. Some exhibitors, however, do not experience the success of others. The success of the exhibitor is the responsibility of the exhibitor, not the trade show organizer. The organizer’s responsibility is to promote the show, fill the exhibits and fill the show with large numbers of visitors. Being at the right show for your business is the first step. Attracting visitors to your exhibit is the next step and may be a challenge. Once the visitor is there, getting them to buy your product or service, or agree to a future contact is another challenge. Bring to mind a time when you either participated at a trade show or were a visitor at a trade show what attracted you to an exhibit, and what turned you off? Here are 5 success tips that will assist you in enhancing your experience as an exhibitor at your first or next trade show. 1. Seating. Sitting on a barstool will keep you at eye-level with most visitors. Avoid chairs at regular height as it creates a sense of distance between you and your visitors, thus breaking rapport with them. 2. Create gender balance. Balancing the number of men and women in your exhibit will help ensure your visitors feel comfortable during their visit. An exhibit staffed by all men or all women may not be as inviting to the opposite sex. In addition to gender balance, when possible, have different ages of staff at your exhibit to ensure that visitors can relate to the staff at your exhibit. 3. Less is more when it comes to displaying your literature - it is better to replenish your materials frequently than have a disorganized surplus at any one time. Large piles of flyers or show-special handouts may appear to some visitors that no one has taken an interest in your materials. Store large quantities of your handouts and flyers under your table and only display short, smaller piles at any one time. 4. Offer carry bags. Many visitors collect a multitude of samples, brochures, and business cards during the show. Offer them a carry bag that displays your company logo. Not only will you appear as the hero for giving them a handy carry bag, you will also have your name/logo displayed at the show while people carrying your bags are browsing the other exhibits. 5. Use a photo. Put a head-and-shoulders photo of yourself or a photo of your product on your literature. These photos will help visitors remember you when they browse through your materials at a later date. Many visitors collect a multitude of flyers and brochures during the show and when they get back to their office, they sift through each piece, usually tossing away what they don’t need. Having your photo on your materials will help them reconnect with you again. Tween Scene - No More Kids Clothes?

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

By Albert Medinas Shopping for kids clothes is, if not fun, at least a relatively painless parental task. All a parent needs to know to buy clothes is the childs age and favorite over-commercialized cartoon character. He then need only buy something with that age printed on the tag 2T for a two-year old, 6X for a tall six-year old bearing the appropriate Elmo or Dora the Explorer images. Not a flawless system, but one that has stood the transition from shopping moms to shopping, clueless dads like me. However, this system starts to unravel as your child approaches the tween years generally recognized as the ages between nine and twelve. The tween years are similar to the toddler years in that your child feels the need to assert independence, test limits, and even push a few buttons. But there is the added confusion of raging hormones causing body changes, mood swings, and occasional fits of pique. At this age, clothing not only fits differently due to growth (and those darn hormones), but your young person begins to have a sense of his own style, or at least a sense of what his peers are wearing. No more Rugrats, Blues Clues, or Barbie clothing themes. No more kids clothes. What will my kids want to wear? Tweens begin feeling the need to express their independence from their parents by emulating their peers. Its the prelude to full-blown teenager-hood, and as such, fashion plays a role. However, fashion and popular culture should never override parental wisdom, or common sense. Do we really need to see an eleven-year-old boys boxers billowing out of his low-slung pants like the braking chute on a drag racer? Should we really know what color underwear a ten year old girl is wearing as it climbs over the top of her jeans? Tweens will look to teens, and teen pop icons, for whats cool to wear, and in so doing will see a proliferation of skin and undergarments. Leaving aside the issue of whether this attire is appropriate for anyone, these are definitely not kids clothes. Yet they may very possibly be the clothes your kids will want to wear. No kids clothes? What should I buy? Fear not, all is not lost! The aware parent can be fashion-forward and still lose the babyish kids clothes. Todays tween/teen fashion seems to be centered on baggy and low slung, with an eye to 80s Prep. Plain white tee shirts are popular for both boys and girls, as are polo shirts (yes, the collars are back up!). Loose fitting cargo pants, jeans, khakis and chinos are also worn by both girls and boys. Many of todays jeans are low-rise, which means parents need to keep an eye out for peeping underwear and plumbers cleavage, but the right fit can be found. As silk scarf belts are in for girls, obtaining this accessory for your daughter might help keep the jeans up at their proper height. Popular with boys is the silk (or silk-like) shirt over that white tee. Untucked, this also can help disguise pants that seem to be hanging at knee level. One way young ladies can be skin-fashionable without being inappropriate is by wearing Capri pants coupled with the ped-like no-see socks that dont rise above the tops of the sneaker. Showing a little ankle may have been risqu in Queen Victorias day, but in todays Britney Spears boobs-and-bellies world, the ankle is an easy compromise. These socks are also worn by boys, so stock up. Whats this going to cost me? Lets face it - fashion can be expensive. And if my tween is going to be growing out of her clothes in three months, outfitting her could become prohibitively expensive. Fortunately, part of the problem is solved by the fashion itself. White tees, ankle-height socks, and even polo shirts are relatively inexpensive, and can be purchased at Target or Wal-Mart. However, some of the retailers that are offering these trendy kids clothes are on the higher end of the pricing scale. Abercrombie, American Eagle, Old Navy, and Gap are on the frontlines of kids clothes fashion, and are more expensive. Its best for the budget-conscious parent to pick a few pieces of anchor clothing from these places that can be accessorized or added to from discount stores. Remember: You are the parent As your child grows out of her kids clothes and into tween clothes, remember who is in charge. A tween is yet a child, and needs parental guidance and supervision. You decide what is or is not appropriate attire. And, unless your tween has a high-end, low-carb, no-sugar lemonade bar, you are probably the one paying for the clothes. You can allow your young person to grow and express herself within your parameters, and make the transition out of kids clothes a smooth one. There are many resources for parents to communicate with and help each other through each stage of child development. One such is the Parents.com website, which has message boards and forums for each age group. Check the tweens board to see what other parents are thinking of doing regarding their tweens. Albert Medinas has developed and maintains the website Kids Clothes and More!, which answers the most common questions parents have about Kids Clothes. Prepaid SIM Card for Australia

Saturday, September 22nd, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=John_Dulaney]John Dulaney You shall need a phone on the road and also as you reach your destination in Australia. There is a great way to save on your communication expenses, where the benefits are very rewarding, saving you up-to 80% of your costs on making and receiving calls on your mobile. You may decide to take your handset with you, which you are using at home. For one, that handset has to be on roaming and secondly and most importantly, your handset must work on the GSM frequencies operated in Australia. But stop for a moment. Have you thought of those call charges, the incoming and outgoing? Do you know that when you are on roaming, you need to pay a roaming charge per minute on top of the calls that you receive and make? Do you remember those days when you had to call up your friends and your family back home from the your hotel telephone? It was expensive, wasnt it? The roaming incoming and outgoing calls are as expensive if not more. There is a way you can save. You can buy the specific prepaid SIM card for Australia. You will get an Australian phone number and along-with it you will get a limited credit for your talk time. Not only that, all incoming calls are free, no matter where it generates from, and the charges for your outgoing calls are the same as the locals pay. There are no roaming charges what-so-ever. You do not have to worry about your bills arriving at the end of the month, for, the call charges are all prepaid, which helps you to keep your expenses within your budget. There is no contract for you to sign. When you are down on your call time credit, just walk into any shop in Australia, and buy a recharge voucher/coupon to top up your credit. These are available in different denominations, so that you can choose as to how much credit you would require. The prepaid SIM card for Australia is the most convenient and economical way to keep in touch with your friends and business associates, locally and abroad and also it is the cheapest way to call your family back home. Now, the most important of all is that, you have a prepaid SIM card for Australia, but would it work with the phone that you have? Australia uses Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) operation. Even if your handset is a GSM compatible mobile phone, it is unlikely that it will work in Australia. Over 600 countries in the world use GSM. Except North America and Canada, most the part of the world operates on different GSM frequency band. North America and Canada has limited GSM operation, and the bandwidths they operate on is not usually the one’s you have in most of the countries in the world. The solution would be to rent a phone which is compatible with the frequencies in Australia. If you are a regular traveler, it is worth considering buying a quad band mobile phone, which will cover all the GSM frequencies used in the world, including North America and Canada There is one more thing that you need to take care of. The mobile handset that you take with you needs to be SIM unlocked. This would mean that the handset would work with any SIM that you put in. When you sign a contract with a service provide, you might get a mobile handset free along-with your SIM card. This contact binds you to a certain period of time, before which you cannot leave the services of that particular provider. Under these circumstances, the mobile handset that you received free of cost is SIM locked, meaning that you can only use the SIM card that you received from your service provider. This will not allow you to use any other SIM card. You need to make sure that the mobile phone that you are taking with you is SIM unlocked, which will allow you to use the prepaid SIM card for Australia. In order to learn more about prepaid SIM card for Australia and renting or buying an appropriate mobile handset, vist www.planetomni.com or appropriately, www.planetomni.com/FAQ_sim.shtml for prepaid SIM card for Australia and www.planetomni.com/FAQ_gsm.shtml for renting or buying the appropriate GSM phone. Rates can be extremely low using this system. For example in 99% of all SIM CARDS incoming calls are free and calls to the states can cost a trifle. Beautify Your Stamped Cards with Creative Coloring

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

By Melanie Brown Stamping is one of the most versatile crafts around because there are so many different options that you can use to enhance even the most basic stamp. When you look at some colored stamped images, you may be overwhelmed by how beautiful they are. Some look like works of art that have been meticulously painted by tiny little brushes. For a beginner, or even intermediate stamper, they make look overwhelming. The truth is however, that coloring stamped images does not have to be difficult, and it does not require any special artistic skill. Chances are if you are already involved with stamping, you have enough creativity to color in your stamped images beautifully. There are a number of different tools that you can use to color, and the most popular ones for stampers are pastels, or chalks, watercolor pencils, markers or ink pads. Chalks Chalks are a great way to color in stamped images because they are inexpensive and versatile. You do not have to spend too much money to get a full set of chalks that you can use for a very long time. Most chalk sets will come with an applicator or two. These applicators look similar to eye shadow brushes. Other tools that work well to apply chalks are cotton swabs or cotton balls, small sponge brushes, or clean eye make up brushes. It is always a good idea to practice on a scrap piece of cardstock before you apply the color to your image. Practice blending shades of chalk together to achieve the desired result. Press very lightly for a softer look, and a little bit harder for a strong, sharper color. Shade with the applicator for effect, or hi light certain areas of your image. You can mix chalk colors directly on the cards stock or image, or you can mix the colors on the applicator before applying to your product, whichever you prefer. Watercolors Watercolor pencil crayons are one of the most versatile coloring tools that you can find because there are so many different techniques that you can create with them. If you want a strong colored image, apply the pencil crayons directly to the image just as you would with regular coloring crayons. However, if you want water colored look, you can use a blender pen to create that effect. Simply color along the edge of the image with the pencil, and use the blender pen to “pull” the color into the desired area. Another way to apply color is by rubbing your pencil crayon on a piece of scrap and “dipping” the blender pen into the color before applying. This will create a softer effect. Another way to watercolor is by using your ink pad. With the lid shut, push in the middle of the pad to create a pool of ink on the lid. Then you simply dip your blender pen into the ink and paint into the image. By doing this, you can create a stronger coloring effect. Markers Markers are also a popular choice for coloring in stamps because of how easy they are to use. Simply color in the stamped image. If you have watercolor markers you may be able to use a blender pen to mix the colors, or create a softer look. Whatever color method you choose, it is generally a good idea to use a spray fixative to secure the colors. Do not use hairspray for this job because over time it will yellow the images and the paper. Melanie Brown is an avid card maker and Stampin Up demonstrator. Bridezilla, Wedding Planning, and the Perfect Wedding

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

By Sheilah Marshall Wedding planning can be a very stressful time. Many of us have seen the reality t.v. show about bridezilla, the out of control bride. But you don’t have to be so stressed out that you treat your family and friends like they were doormats or worse. Let’s take a moment to think about it. There are a gazillion things to do and think about as you plan your wedding. You want the perfect wedding, the day you’ve always dreamed about. But let’s be realistic here. You can plan everything right down to the smallest detail, but chances are that not everything is going to go as you planned. Inevitably something will go wrong. If you accept this possibility as you plan your wedding this will help to reduce the amount of stress you experience. Try to remember that if something doesn’t go exactly according to your wedding plans that it’s not the end of the world. It will probably be something that you, your groom, friends and family members will laugh about for years to come. If you get it on tape you might even send it to America’s Funniest Videos and win $10,000. There is always a bright side to most everything if you will just look for it. It is the bridezillas who fail to look for that silver lining in every cloud and make themselves and everyone around them miserable. I saw a report on a national morning show recently about women who became very depressed after their wedding and honeymoon were over. After months of dreaming, anticipation, planning and shopping the perfect wedding, came and went and there was a big let down. Realize that it’s not the perfect wedding that is the most important thing, but the marriage relationship that you begin with the man you love. Another matter for you to consider is how your family is dealing with your impending marriage and all the wedding planning. You won’t realize until you are a little older how quickly time passes. To your mom and dad it was only yesterday that you were their little girl. Although I’m sure they are very happy and excited for you as you begin a new phase in your life, they also can’t help but feel a little sad. Of course, it you have been out on your own for a few years they have probably become accustomed to you being all grown up. Anyway, I say all that to say this, remember to be considerate of their feelings as you plan your wedding. In this age of me, me, me, you might be shocked to learn that this day is not just about you. Include your family in helping you prepare, if they express an interest. You might just ask them if they would like to help you plan your wedding. Your mom will probably be thrilled! If she has a talent for flower selection and arranging, you might ask her to deal with the florist. Perhaps your dad could arrange hotel accommodations for any out of town guests. If you have brothers or sisters that are capable of helping out, by all means let them. If you have aunts that you are close to and can trust with a particular job, then ask them to help. Make it a family affair. You can never have too much help. The more help you have the less chance of you becoming bridezilla. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE! Begin planning your wedding early, have your checklist of things to do and check them off as they are done, try not to micromanage everything and enjoy planning your wedding. So, to avoid being a bridezilla follow the above advice and try not to have any major last minute things that you have to do the week of your wedding. The less stressed and the more relaxed you are the more your wedding will seem perfect and the more you will enjoy your special day.
